Posted on August 3rd, 2018
John Turner Construction has been awarded the strip out, alteration and refurbishment of Longus House in Chester by Aviva Investors.
Located on Eastgate Row, in the heart of Chester, the former Debenhams store will be converted and reconfigured to provide three new retail units.
Construction works are being carried out in the listed Tudor building over the basement, lower ground, ground and first floors of Longus House which is bounded by The Grosvenor Shopping Centre and other adjacent retail units.
Renowned for its historic and architectural appeal, comprising unique features including ‘The Rows’, Chester is a major regional shopping destination with a catchment population of approximately 350,000 people. The Chester Rows are continuous half-timbered galleries, reached by steps, which form a second row of shops above those at street level. They date from the medieval era and their precise origins are unknown.
