Edge Hill University
Graduate’s Court, Phase 3, was the second student accommodation project completed by John Turner for Edge Hill University which followed the design and construction principles of Phases 1 and 2.
The experience from the previous phases allowed further improvement to the performance of the building. The introduction of whole house ventilation and improved insulation levels facilitated greater air tightness reducing energy demands and fuel emissions.
The eight linked two and three storey blocks included 154 students grouped together in flats of six and eight, featured energy use displays, LED’s and internal lighting controls. The high quality accommodation was constructed, whilst the University remained fully occupied, using durable and robust goods and products giving longevity and value for money.
The residential blocks are used to provide accommodation for conference attendees during the summer half term providing self catering apartments.
Bespoke furniture was manufactured and installed by John Turner’s in-house joinery facility.
This project scored 32.5 out of 40 and was awarded Performance Beyond Compliance by Considerate Constructors.
