This project involved the design and build of a two storey Creative Arts Building which provides some of the best creative media facilities in the area within a modern learning environment for students.
Accommodating various subjects including art and design, drama, film and media studies, music and music technology as well as other A level students, the 1200m² modern complex offers spacious and bright teaching areas. A 120 seat lecture theatre with retractable seating incorporates contemporary spaces that can alternatively be used for performances including drama and dance productions as well as cinema and exhibitions.
Individual group practice rooms for music technology, recording and sound editing studios, control rooms and a film studio feature in the new creative building.
Constructed whilst the campus was fully operational, the new steel framed modern learning facility incorporates environmental features including photovoltaic cells, passive solar control and photocell controlled lighting along with specialist extract systems.
Achieving excellent Considerate Constructors Scheme scores of 39/50, the project also attained Performance Beyond Compliance.
Business studies students visited the construction site to spend time with the project management team to learn how their studies are implemented in subjects of environment, waste, project management, costing/budgets and subcontracting.

“Just a quick email to say thanks so much for spending the time this afternoon to meet and speak to our A2 Business students. Your input was really helpful to them and it was very interesting to see how theory actually works in practice. The students all enjoyed themselves and we really appreciate your time.”
Joe Barrow, Director or Learning and Standards, KGV College
“The building is even more amazing than we could ever have dreamed of and the facilities are truly overwhelming. When work started on the project 16 months ago this day seemed like a distant dream so it has been lovely to see everything come together finally.”
