Burnley College has a proud history of providing the very best education and training for people of all ages with their learners at the heart of everything they do.

John Turner Construction was awarded the contract to provide high quality curriculum-based T Level teaching accommodation. A two-storey extension to the Sports Centre was completed followed by a new ‘I Block’ Teaching Building.

The award-winning sports and fitness centre, Fitness Evolution, was extended to accommodate learners as well as the community. A specialist gym was created for the College’s Elite Athletes in addition to a Strengthening Gym, Sports Therapy Suite, learning spaces and dance studio.

The new four-storey environmentally friendly I Block facility, housing 20 interactive classrooms, was carried out on a design and build basis. Specialist facilities include a hospital ward simulation and Anatomage Table, a human 3D anatomy table, for students studying T Levels in Health and Healthcare Science.

Built on sustainable principles, the new block is completely fossil fuel free and achieved BREEAM Very Good. I Block is a steel framed structure with a composite cladding façade punctuated with aluminium curtain walling and cladding.

The College awarded us further follow on projects which included a substantial amount of bespoke joinery fit out items. After close collaboration with ABW Architects and our Joinery Manager, a high quality teaching space for Early Years training was also completed which included sensory features and a story telling tree.
