Edge Hill University
John Turner was awarded Phases 6 and 7, student accommodation after successfully completing five previous phases. This project comprised a total of 272 bedrooms in four blocks with eight bed flats (a cluster).
The three storey new build blocks were designed and constructed utilising the same techniques as the previous phases to meet the tight and fast track programme as well as achieving continual improvement.
Phase 6, completed in 18 weeks, comprised an additional 128 bedrooms in two blocks at Chancellor’s Court and Phase 7 included a further 144 bedrooms in two blocks at Founder’s Court, completed in 12 weeks.
Each cluster of eight ensuite bedrooms, has its own large spacious kitchen and dining area featuring energy use displays, LED low energy light fittings as well as IT connectivity and hardware.
A wet heating system is provided and is supplemented by the roof mounted solar PV panels.
External works included hard and soft landscaping, Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) surface water and foul drainage.
This project was successfully completed and progressively handed over in order to meet the September student intake.
