Redsun Developments
New build of bespoke industrial and retail units for national motor vehicle MOT/repair/maintenance facility and furniture specialist with offices, staff areas and parking spaces at Counterpoint, Aintree.
The buildings, for Halfords autocentre and HSL furniture specialists, were constructed on concrete pad foundations with an insulated reinforced concrete ground slab. The slab was laid to tolerance levels required by the end users.
The site contained mildly contaminated ‘tin slag’ which had been transported from Cornwall to the site in its earlier life. The material was used extensively on railway work and associated sites as hardcore fill. It was removed and disposed of at a specialist land fill site supervised by an Environmental Consultant. This was carried out to satisfy the remediation strategy as required by Sefton Council planning and environmental departments.
The superstructures were steel portal frames with Kingspan composite cladding and Optimo flat panels were used on the entrance areas. Aluminium framed glazed screens were fitted to each unit together with roller shutter doors. The units included shell amenity areas to be fitted out by the client.
The motor vehicle unit included adaptations to the slab to facilitate the fitting of rolling road brake test units and ramps by Halfords.
A large car parking area and service yard was provided with soft landscaping and adaptations to the highway entrance which required discharged planning conditions.
