Social Value
John Turner Construction understands the need to maximise social, as well as economic return in all of our activities if we are to optimise the objective of working together for the common good of the communities in which we operate and live. We look to deliver quality, value, customer service and social impact.
To reinforce this commitment and to facilitate a co-ordinated offering, we employ a Social Value Manager and we are members of Social Value UK, an organisation that benchmarks our ‘social value’ proposals.
People and Training
We respect people’s views, provide a safe and healthy working environment and conduct our business with integrity.
The company believes in developing the skills and capabilities of our employees and we are Investors in People accredited.
For many years, we have invested in sustainable apprenticeships and in growing our own staff.
Environment
As part of our commitment to act in a socially responsible way, we also proactively consider environmental sustainability. We understand that construction can impact on the environment but with careful management, potential negative impacts can be avoided or minimised.
Our Environmental Management System is independently accredited to ISO 14001 and our Energy Management System is accredited to ISO 50001. We look to go beyond obligatory standards in all areas of our operations, from performance to value and social responsibility.
John Turner Construction has recently completed an exercise in conjunction with Lancaster University and a group of their MBA students, to undertake a consultancy challenge on Waste Minimisation and Mitigation within our business. We have received their recommendations and we are putting them into practice.
