Following its Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating, the school experienced growing demand for places and required additional teaching space to support more students.
John Turner Construction was appointed to deliver a second-storey extension to the existing school. The project created two new classrooms, an IT suite and a staff office. The new spaces provide flexible teaching areas, including facilities that support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The extension was carefully designed to make the best use of the existing site. By building above ground level, the school was able to increase teaching space without losing valuable outdoor areas used by students. The structure also provides a covered area below, creating additional shelter for pupils during the school day.
Working on a live school site required detailed planning and close collaboration with the school. John Turner Construction phased the works to minimise disruption and maintained a safe environment for students, staff and visitors throughout the project. The team also worked closely with Sport England to ensure all requirements relating to the nearby sports facilities were successfully met.
The new extension has increased the school’s teaching capacity while blending seamlessly with the existing building. The modern learning spaces support both everyday teaching and specialist learning, providing a high-quality environment that will benefit students and staff for years to come.
