Withington Girls’ School
Withington Girls’ School is a leading independent day school for girls aged 7 to 18 in Fallowfield, Manchester. Founded in 1890, the school provides for over 700 pupils at junior, senior and sixth form stages.
Following on from our previous successful contract to build a new Sports Centre and Fitness Suite, John Turner Construction was awarded the contract to provide a new two storey dining hall and hospitality space. The new extension and refurbished adjoining areas provide a versatile space for dining, hospitality and functions, with a first storey viewing gallery of the sports fields. Two new kitchens, serving areas and modern seating help the school to provide a more relaxed and interactive experience for the pupils and staff. The new extension also provides a learning support centre, additional office space and new toilet facilities.
The school and facilities remained fully open during our construction activities, through careful planning and a co-operative approach, the operation of the school was not compromised by our works. Demolition work and the forming of new openings was carried out during the school holidays and material deliveries were made outside of normal school hours.
