John Turner Construction has been appointed to deliver a major expansion at The Grange School in Levenshulme, Manchester, part of the Prospere Learning Trust.
Work recently commenced on the scheme, funded by Manchester City Council, to meet growing demand for specialist school places. The project will enhance teaching environments and increase capacity through a series of internal upgrades.
Plans include refurbishment and conversion of the existing sports hall into modern classrooms, breakout areas and a new mezzanine level to maximise space. Additional improvements will be made to foyer areas, staff facilities and a café extension.
Grange School provides 247 day places for pupils aged 3 to 19 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), including those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Renowned for its tailored approach, the school was graded Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2023 and was shortlisted for the World’s Best School Prizes 2024, for innovation.
A distinctive feature of the school is its working farm, where pupils care for alpacas, pigs, goats and chickens while working toward animal husbandry qualifications.
John Turner Construction is proud to play a part in supporting inclusive education and helping deliver modern, adaptable spaces that meet the needs of an exceptional school.
