The project is being carried out for Nugent, a charity that runs the centre as a secure children’s home. The charity provides care, education and health support for vulnerable young people aged 10 to 18, helping each person feel safe, supported and valued.
Work on site includes refurbishment and alteration of the existing secure centre, along with updates to the sports hall. Two new classroom extensions are being built within the site’s recreation courtyards, which will also be refurbished with new paving and planting. Mechanical and electrical upgrades are being carried out throughout, alongside drainage works to support the new classroom areas.
The centre remains fully open and operational throughout construction. John Turner Construction is working closely with Nugent to plan and phase the works carefully, minimising disruption to daily life on site. Strict safeguarding measures are in place and all site staff are inducted to understand the secure nature of the building and the importance of protecting the young people who live there.
Once complete, the project will provide improved education facilities, upgraded admin and staff spaces and refreshed outdoor recreation areas. These improvements will help Nugent continue its important work, giving young people at Marydale Lodge a better environment to learn, grow and move forward positively.
John Turner Construction is proud to be delivering this sensitive and valuable project.
We look forward to seeing the improvements benefit the Marydale Lodge community for years to come.
