Completion of two hospital operating theatres at Salford Royal
Posted on November 5th, 2018
John Turner Construction has successfully completed the alteration and refurbishment of two hospital operating theatres at Salford Royal.
After a 61 week programme, Theatres 5 and 6 were completed and works included stripping out, modification of M&E services and medical gases, new air handling units and associated steel supports, new ultra clean canopies including high-tech neurological lighting and high definition cameras.
During this time, we also applied a new liquid membrane on the external roof above the two new theatres. Construction works progressed with the surrounding areas, corridors and adjacent theatre remaining fully operational.
Procured through the Construction Impact Framework, the two theatres were programmed to run consecutively with Theatre 6 commencing in September 2017 and Theatre 5 completing in November 2018.
Dr Jon Watt, Consultant Anaesthetist for Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust commented ‘many thanks for all the work you have put into this project. You have been a really fantastic team, always positive and always able to offer solutions to problems. Your team have worked really well with the Clinical Teams in theatres. The way you have scheduled work around the theatre activity has led to minimal disruption to either clinical work or construction work. It has been great working with you and I wish you the very best for future projects.’
