John Turner Construction welcomed Jacob Elo to the company as a summer intern.
Jacob, pictured above, is a first year student and is studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying at Leeds Beckett University. He is working on two of our prestigious projects at Lancaster University; the new Engineering 2 building and the School of Architecture, gaining knowledge and experience. Jacob is based on site where he is learning more about the industry and putting theory into practice. He will be returning to Leeds at the end of the summer to embark on the second year of his degree.
A few words from Jacob … ‘I’m enjoying learning what a QS does day to day on site and have learnt so much about cost reports, progress valuations and tendering work packages for projects. I’ve used my measurement knowledge from University to re-measure certain packages, ie. drainage, steelwork, brickwork etc. I would highly recommend young people, who are at University and looking for experience, to work for a summer on site, as it will be of great benefit – both to them and to the Company. Thank you so much to everyone at John Turner Construction for giving me this fantastic opportunity.’
