North West Reserve Forces Association
This design and build project involved the construction of new facilities for the North West Reserve Forces and Cadets Association. The two-storey HQ building provided classrooms, offices, stores, toilets, showers, two large plant rooms and caretakers living quarters.
The first floor also contained a drill and sports hall as well as a function room. The large garage building comprised 11 large military vehicle garage blocks, leisure facilities, a training workshop, classrooms, stores and a rifle range. A Cadet Training School Building was constructed including offices and classrooms for the Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps.
The buildings were of traditional construction using steelwork for the main superstructure and the elevations being clad in a mixture of masonry and composite panel materials.
The in-house joinery manufacturing facility at John Turner provided many of the internal components including the new bar in the function room. Extensive external hardstanding areas were provided with access improvements to the approach road from Netherton Way.
Timing of completion was critical for our client, McLagan Investments, for the relocation of the TA from the Strand Road site which, in turn, made way for an ASDA Group development.
Client: North West Reserve Forces Association
“This was an excellent contract for the Association, the project was delivered on time by a non-confrontational company. We had the benefit of good communications, compliance of specification and Health and Safety. The Contractor always had adequate resources which was the main reason why the project was delivered on time. John Turner are worth considering for inclusion on any Select List of Tenderers. We will not hesitate to include them on any future Associations Invitations To Tender.”
