New Youth, Sports and Community Hub for Gorton

John Turner Construction has been appointed to deliver a new youth, sports and community hub for the Greater Manchester Youth Federation (GMYF) on Mount Road in Gorton, Manchester. GMYF is a long-established registered charity, with origins dating back to the mid-1800s and this new development marks a significant investment in its mission to support young people and provide meaningful opportunities within the local community.

The project involves the construction of a two-storey community and youth facility designed to function as a safe and welcoming space. The building will serve young people participating in GMYF programmes while also offering flexible access for the wider community during school hours. The facility will feature a mix of youth rooms, offices, meeting space, a drama studio and a community room, alongside kitchen, sanitary accommodation and dedicated support areas, all set within a secure site with car parking, EV charging and cycle storage.

Large areas of glazing will be provided on all main sides of the building, helping to create a bright, open feel and allowing good visibility across the site. The community and meeting rooms will feature corner windows and the upper-floor windows will look out over the grounds to support a safe and well-overlooked environment. The exterior will be finished with brickwork, black aluminium windows and feature frames, with a combination of grey artificial slate and flat roofing completing the design.

This new GMYF centre represents an important addition to Gorton’s community infrastructure, providing modern, adaptable facilities that promote participation, recreation and personal development. John Turner Construction is proud to be delivering this scheme, helping GMYF continue its longstanding commitment to the young people and residents of Greater Manchester.
